On Wednesday last week I got the chance to catch up with one of my original mentors in the fitness industry for a coffee and one of the things that came up over was the amount of new “fitness business mentors” popping up in the industry.
Every week there seems to be a new goo-roo running Facebook ads to their masterminds or retreats and they are all high priced.
Usually they will goad you with their gooroo-esqe marketing, maybe even call you out for being a “pu$$y” if you don't drop 10k on their metoring program and promise youinstant business success.
They might even force you to have a fight with another of your mastermind members, because they have seen other gooroos do it.
A lot of these are guys who either have never worked in the industry on they have managed to fill a bootcamp class using Groupon who now think they are marketing experts or even worse guys who couldn't fill their own bootcamps.
I've even seen one of these so called fitness marketing experts that as far as I'm aware has never owed a fitness business, try and rebrand himself as a dating and relationships expert.
It's just like the classic line from the Monthy Python film The Life of Brian “He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy”
Theres no quick fix in the fitness industry (or any other business)
There are no cheats, hacks shortcuts or ninja tactics that will grow you a sustainable business.
Building a business is simple especially a fitness or personal training business.
Get leads, nurture leads (consistently), sell to leads.
Rinse and repeat until you are happy.
The key is to be consistent.
