So you have decided to get or upgrade a website for your personal training or fitness business, but you're not really sure what you should use?

There are loads of options these days but it can be hard to choose, especially if you are being pushed in a certain direction by a web designer or you have been told you need a bespoke site by an equally enthusiastic web guy who has a pound or dollar signs in his eyes.

Fortunately, you don't have to spend loads of money on a website these days because WordPress is one of the best ways of getting your website online in next to no time and for only a small investment. Although, the cost isn't the only reason why you should be using WordPress for your website, content management software, and blogging tool.

Personally, I use WordPress for all of my sites, and in fact, this site is an example of a WordPress blog.

There are literally loads of great reasons why you should be using this platform – here are my top 7:

1. Its Dead Easy To Use

The Dashboard is really easy to use which makes updating your site a quick and simple task. This means you don't have to pay anyone to add pages or posts. In addition to this, if you can use a word processor like Microsoft word then you can use WordPress. You don't need to know any HTML or programming and you can edit / change/add/delete/pages and posts until your heart is content.

2. Loads of Plugins and Tools

WordPress is an opensource platform which means that loads of people around the planet collaborate to help improve it. What this also means is there are a load of different plugins and tools that you can literally plug in to give it more functionality. For example, you can get plugins that improve your SEO, can play video, turn your blog into a membership site, interact with Facebook etc. The list is endless and lots of them are free and can be installed or plugged in in a matter of minutes.

3. Google Loves WordPress Sites

For some reason, Google seems to like WordPress sites over other platforms. So if you want to impress the big G and ensure that your fitness website ranks well for your search terms, you should be definitely thinking about having your site hosted on a WordPress platform.

4. It's Super Flexible

WordPress is a great interface for many different types of sites. You can use it for a basic blog, a 5-page brochure site, or even a complicated member site. You can also change how it looks pretty easy as well and you have 100% control over the colours, fonts and how the page layouts. You can make adjustments to individual pages by adding pictures or videos as well as implementing all sorts of wonderful tools.

There are literally 100's of themes that you can use to change the way your site looks and you don't have to break the bank to get them either. In fact, this site is on a free theme that I downloaded from the WordPress website and all I had to do was tweak the colours and change the header graphics.

5. Its Cheap As Chips

As I said above, there are a load of developers working on WordPress sites these days, and you can get a basic site put together for around £200 as long as you know exactly what you need.

6. It's Future Proof (ish)

You can easily update your WordPress website to take advantage of new web technology to make sure that you don't get left behind. This is as easy as pushing the update button on your dashboard. (Just be sure to backup your site first)

7. Quick & Easy to Install

Some hosts like BlueHost and GoDaddy make it really easy to get your site installed. In fact, you can install WordPress on your hosting plan in around minutes. This means that you can have a basic website online and start putting content on there in around the same time that it takes to boil a kettle. Fast or What!

As simple as it is to create a fitness website on WordPress, I understand how busy working in the fitness business can be, so if you need someone to take care of everything on the digital side of your business, get in touch for a chat to find out what we can do for you.
