This week I want to get out to the cinema to watch the new Trainspotting film (T2). Now you might not think that this has anything to do with personal training or getting more clients but it really does and it highlight something that a lot of the fitness industry screw up with when trying to grow their fitness businesses.

Lemme explain

Most of the PT's I see on Facebook are trying to convince couch potatoes and people who are not exercising to change their lazy ways.

“Eat Healthier” they scream, “get off the couch and work harder while posting gooro-esqe motivational garbage like “Sweat is just fat crying” (wtf does that even mean?)

They might as well try and convert ISIS rebels to Christianity, which is about as likely as finding the Loch ness monster living.

Which brings me to this:

You see there are two types of people who are the most likely to sign up to buy personal training from you.

1. People who are already working out and
2. People who have worked with you before

Just like people who want to see T2 have most likely seen the original.

Which is why you should make it as easy as possible for people to work with you and lower the barrier.

You increase the chances of them working with you long term if you can prove that you can help them get an easy win and some easy results 1st.
