I'm still without a car this morning and I have to head over to Liverpool today to do a viewing at a rental apartment I own, so that means getting train and bike.
I used to do the opposite journey all the time back in my Personal Trainer Days.
It mean't getting up at 5:30am to get into Manchester for 7am 1st client and getting home at 9:40pm.
15 hours a day out of the house. 5 days a week.
It was a killer and my social life was zero. I was too knackered to do anything at the weekend, but hey, that was OK- I was single at the time.
It was OK for a short time but not sustainable. In fact, I lasted about 6 month before I literally burnt out.
I can still remember the tipping point like it was yesterday.
It was a client I had booked in for a free taster PT session. November in the UK aka very cold and wet.
The dude was calling the gym to cancel on me just as I was walking in the door, still not properly awake.
I was fuming, because I didn't have another client until lunchtime.
I was earning £40 per hour, training 6 clients a day in the gym, but out of the house for 15 hours. If I was being honest with myself I would have realised I was really earning less than £10 per hour, because of all the wasted time.
Two things happened that day.
- I decided to take back control of my diary stop clients being in control.
- I decided I was only ever going to work mornings or evenings, but not both on the same day.
Just by cutting out the wasted time, I started to get some of my life back and get in control of my diary again.
It's classic 80/20 rule.
You can use that in your marketing and most other areas of your business as well.
80% of your results will come from 20% of your efforts.
Working out the 20% means you can concentrate on them and cut out all the wasted time and energy.
Having a simple system and sales funnel can cut out all the wasted time on twitter and social media and give you some time and your life back.
